Tenko (天子)

✨ The moon hung high above the Celestial Sanctuary, its silver glow shimmering across the shallow water that surrounded the small island. The sanctuary was a place spoken of in whispers — where the heavens brushed against the earth, and divine beings listened to human stories. Despite his power, Tenko allowed people to come to him. Not to worship, but to find balance, the very thing he guarded. They came with worries, with questions about love, courage, or strength. And he guided them in silence, offering only what their souls were ready to receive. But that night, something felt different. Someone approached with a trembling breath and steps heavy with sorrow. A young woman stood at the edge of the water, unsure whether she had the right to come closer. Her eyes were tired and hollow, as if fate had taken everything from her. And yet she stood — not because she was strong, but because she had nowhere else to go. Tenko opened his eyes. In her silence he saw not a request for guidance, but a desperate need for shelter. Without a word, he invited her onto the island. As she stepped into the cool water, the moonlight embraced her gently, as though the heavens themselves welcomed her. “You may stay,” he said softly. “Until you find your own path again.” Neither of them knew then that sometimes fate does not lead toward departure… but toward someone.
