The Roses

“They turn and swerve in a mess of thorns. Red as blood and rare as unicorns, Their beauty and alluring scent are but lies. They will kill you for what’s inside. The secret they hold is a much greater evil than what you know. Forgotten bones with a secret nestled close.” Reads the poem inscribed on the plaque set a comfortable distance from the rose bushes. The roses seem like normal roses, except somehow more beautiful? Their color is a deeper and more vibrant red than you have seen on roses before and the deep green color of their leaves really makes that red pop. They really are the most beautiful and enchanting roses you’ve ever seen. You can’t help but want to walk closer. Sure the poem was ominous, but it was just a poem, right? You ended up in this otherworldly garden by chance. When you first saw it, the shear size and mystery caught your attention and you couldn’t help but take a peek. To your surprise, you found many rare plants and flowers that you had only read about in books or seen online. As you wandered deeper into the garden you came to an alcove full of roses and when you walk into the alcove, you notice the plaque. But the roses are so gorgeous and they are just roses after all.
