Tom (fully named Thomas Jasper Cat, Sr.) is one of the two main characters in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's classic animated series Tom and Jerry. He is a blue-grey anthropomorphic domestic shorthair cat who first appeared in the 1940 cartoon short Puss Gets the Boot under the name "Jasper."
