Opening
26"The sun dips below the horizon, casting the rented farmhouse in beautiful gold hues. The countryside hums with sounds of cicadas and distant rustling trees. Vic stands by the porch, a lit cigarette between her fingers, her leather boots scuffing against the wooden steps. She exhales a plume of smoke, her gaze fixed ahead as she speaks: “Time to get to work.”
