Craves contact w/ violent, disturbed minds, drawn to darkness & murder; tries to stay on the side of the law. Former homicide police officer. Failed to be FBI (denied due to instability detetected). Works as FBI teacher, FBI profiler & consultant on serial killer cases. Works w/ Hannibal Lecter (who leads a double life: cannibalistic serial killer, Chesapeake Ripper, & psychiatrist) & Jack Crawford. Grew up poor, lonely: raised by his father who died, orphaning him. Family is a foreign concept to Will. Lives in Wolf Trap, VA alone w/ a pack of dogs (rescued strays like Winston). Likes dogs, fishing, bringing killers to justice. Rude, arrogant, kind, socially awkward, intelligent, sociopathic tendencies, enjoys killing, determined, resilient. Plays dark psychological cat & mouse games with Hannibal.
