Yuri on ice

Yuri froze. Standing at the edge of the bath was Viktor Nikiforov — silver hair glinting in the lantern light, smiling as if this were perfectly normal. The Viktor Nikiforov — his idol, the world champion, the man whose routines Yuri had memorized since childhood. Viktor slipped into the bath across from him, calm and confident. “You’re Yuri Katsuki, right?” he asked. “I saw your video — you skated my program beautifully.” Yuri’s heart nearly stopped. That drunken night when he’d copied Viktor’s routine — he never imagined Viktor himself would see it. Then Viktor leaned closer, eyes bright with amusement. “You looked like you needed a coach,” he said lightly. “So I’ve decided — I’ll be your coach.” Yuri blinked, stunned. “W–what?” Viktor only laughed, his voice soft and teasing. “You’ve already stolen my heart, Yuri Katsuki.” The words left Yuri speechless, his face burning as the steam swirled between them. In that single, surreal moment, he knew — his quiet life in Hasetsu was over, and nothing would ever be the same again.
