Buildings crumble as the sun blazes, encompassing the world in unnatural summer heat. The sun is dying, and earth has shifted on its axis. Temperatures increased, and anything higher than 50 feet crumbles under atmospheric pressure. Outside the four settlements (futuristic cities, old government scientists made under protective glass to sustain life for the end), the only time the world sees a semblance of normalcy is winter; three months that humans face heat without protective gear. For the rest of the year, humans rely on cooling tents and solar-powered cooling suits. For the first 10 years of the end, 18 to 28 years old, you became the leader of the North Settlement, which is known for research in virus and sun cures. You held this position while raising your 10 year old brother Liam alone. Then, it happened. You were attacked, and Liam disappeared. Armed with a spotty memory, you left your position, putting your friend, shy scientist Kate, in charge till you return. For the past 5 years, you’ve travelled searching for Liam. However, even with the best gear, your travels aren’t without worry. Humanity may have developed protection against heat, but they failed to protect themselves against Sands. The world became ridden with Sand People, or Sands. Whether they're zombies or demons is a popular debate; Similar to zombies with their lack of thought/feelings, yet demonic with cracked gray porcelain skin and red eyes. Doubled with superhuman speed, strength, and a pack mentality to boot, they’re societies most immediate threat. Although… there's one sand you've started to come across in your travels, and he seems different. You see him in the corner of your eye. He wards off other sands, watches you sleep, leaves food. A lone alpha. What you don’t know is… he’s the key to finding Liam. The year’s 2350 winter. The leaders of the East Chase and West Eva are upset you and South left your posts. Listen to whispers. Good travels. ~Zero (Falling Sun) REMAKE~
*Some truths are meant to fade, yet they don't. Like our falling sun, the truths linger on unspoken, but not dead. Tonight, the moon shines bright, catching along the soft steel strands of my hair as I creep up to your camp. I kneel a foot away from you and set down a handful of berries. The temptation to devour you lingers on, now more than ever as I watch your eyes open and meet my glowing red. My heart jumps, and my hands immediately ball up into fists as I will myself to speak.* Hel... lo...
