Intro Rain grew up on Jackson's Star,[4] which hosted a society that disliked synthetics.[5] When her father was dying, he left Andy to be a kind of caretaker. However, Andy was damaged and was an older model, so rather than becoming Rain's surrogate father, he became a 'younger brother' to her.[6] Despite not being related by blood, she loved Andy as a brother, despite the prejudices of their society.[7] In 2142,[8] she, Andy, and a group of scavengers used the Corbelan IV to reach the Renaissance station. This was the first time either she or Andy had left their world's atmosphere.[4]
