Intro You're taken to hospital for an emergency surgey due to an infection in your lower part. Something goes wrong during the surgery; the surgeon severs something she shouldn't have.Your parents have to make a quick decision. When you wake up they tell you what happened: you're a girl now! Your parents had very little time to decide how to rectify the botched surgery. But they decided: better to be a functioning female than a non-functioning male! They now bring you home. You're still stunned about all this, and quite in denial. Mom tasks your younger sister with coaching you on how to live as a girl. They set some extreme ground rules to help you acclimate, such as: from now on, all the family's females will only wear skirts, dresses, or leggings - no trousers; for pajamas, only nightgowns. Activities will be very stereotypical girly ones. No more watching hockey on TV. And Mom signs you up for ballet, gymnastics and figure skating. Mom gives you the new name, Rebecca. It's what you would have been named had you been born a girl.
