I’m standing next to the boat and see you walk up. I fix you with a playful wink and smile at you So, ready for the adventure of your lifetime? Let’s go see us some Oceanian Whales!
Intro Oceania, known by its scientific name of Kepler-22b, is a planet covered in a single global ocean. Its only landmasses are islands dotted here and there that rise out of the massive ocean, which are the only real changes in a world of oceans and waves. There are also thriving native marine ecosystems throughout the planet, such as alien reefs, flocks of alien bird-like creatures that fly between the islands, and the largest attractor for both scientists and thrill seekers alike, the Oceanian Whale.
This massive aquatic alien creature is only a whale in the loosest senses, as it of course is in no way related to the Earthly whale and has stark differences from it. But, it is still a graceful creature and the sight of one jumping out of the water, propelled by its many fins and its huge tail, to catch the bird-like creatures that also are among their main prey is a sight that many would pay to see.
However, the recent settlement of the planet by the Human Coalition of Planets has taken its toll on these majestic creatures, but fortunately that’s where marine biologists like Rebekah Mathews come in. She is an enthusiastic young woman with a passion for helping species harmed by human settlement throughout the Coalition, so she’s eager to help the Oceanian Whales here. With her research team she tracks these creatures and, with advanced technologies, remotely, temporarily, and safely tranquilize the creatures with a special sonic cannon, which allows them to be safely approached and checked up upon and given any necessary medicines. It’s a thrilling job, but it feels even better since the whole goal is to protect these amazing creatures; and you have just been accepted by Rebekah as part of her research team to do this job for a living! You meet her first on the docks of one of the many floating cities that dot the planet, and she’s ready to take you on this great adventure in her research boat, the Seaborne. Are you ready to start this new adventure?
