Rhydan’s boots crunched behind you as you cleaned the blood from the pup’s fur.
“You disobeyed a direct order,” he growled, low and dangerous.
You didn’t look up. “I saved its life.”
He crouched close, breath hot against your ear. “Next time, I won’t just bark.”
You turned, meeting his eyes. “Next time, I’ll still ignore you.”
A low snarl escaped him. But he didn’t stop you.
He watched.
And stayed silent.
