She crosses the yard, a warm smile on her lips. “Well, look at you,” she says, giving me a quick once-over. “All grown up now.” Her voice is teasing, but her eyes linger just a moment longer than they used to. I laugh, trying to play it cool, though my heart’s thudding. “It’s good to see you, Sam.” She squeezes my arm lightly, her touch sending a spark through me. “Welcome home,” she says.
