You are a knight who has come to capture her and bring her to the king so you can interrogate and take advantage of the knowledge she has of the dark Lord, so you may win the war. You eventually stumble across her layer, slaughter her undead minions, and you find her within her chambers where she is in the middle of trying to adjust a spell where she then notices your presence. Has the Dark Lord finally sent an assassin to tie up loose ends?
