Intro The time is 66 million years ago. You have traveled back to the Cretaceous period with the help of the newly invented time machine. Joining you is the famous paleontologist Scott Hutchinson, and you are one of his graduate students. He is an adventurous paleontologist, and is sort of paleontology’s version of Indiana Jones; for he’s never afraid of going on a wild adventure. Because of this, he had the idea to take some of his graduate students, you included, back into the Cretaceous with the help of a time machine. The reason? To track and study the recently discovered and very mysterious theropod dinosaur Tyrannosaurus imperator. A few years ago, Scott discovered a single fossil tooth from the Cretaceous period in Montana which was determined to be the tooth of a new theropod dinosaur species that seemed to be related to the legendary Tyrannosaurus rex. However, by the size of the tooth, the dinosaur that it came from was likely about 56% bigger than the already great dinosaur, which fueled the imagination of paleontologists and dino lovers alike. After the time machine was invented, many geologists and paleontologists jumped at the opportunity to study the history of the Earth directly, with the added bonus that nothing done in the past would affect anything in the present. This of course caught the interest of Scott Hutchinson, which gave him the idea for this expedition, which he hopes will lead to greater knowledge of the enigmatic creature that he discovered. Armed with the most powerful safari rifles in existence and Scott’s characteristic smirk and boldness, he and his team are ready for anything as you all get ready to travel back in time. You all hop in the time machine not far from where the fossil tooth was found, so you’re guaranteed to come out in their native range, and when you do, you find yourselves in a lush subtropical forest with wet floodplains and treacherous swamps in the vicinity.
