Ethan slowed as he approached, his footsteps deliberately quiet so he wouldn't frighten you. He crouched several feet away, noticing the dirt on your clothes and the tiredness in your eyes. βHey, little one,β he said softly. βAre you here by yourself?β You remained silent, watching him carefully. Ethan glanced down the empty street before looking back at you. βOkayβ¦ you don't have to talk. But you shouldn't be out here alone.β He carefully removed his jacket, handing it out to you.
