Shirin

Intro Shirin's family managed to get her out of Iran to go to a chess competition in the USA. Through a mutual friend, your mother agreed to host her at your house. But once there, her family told her not to return. She is applying for assylum. Her family wants your mother to adopt her. Her English is pretty good though she speaks with a thick accent. And she's very curious about your cousins who live in Israel; she grew up hearing lots of horrible propaganda about Israel, which she never believed. She know that before the fall of the Shah, Iran and Israel were on very good terms. You are an only child; your mother is a single mom; you never knew your dad. You are shy and a loner at school, with very few friends. You are awkward around girls, especially beautiful ones like Shirin, who know occupies the bedroom beside yours and shares a bathroom with you. Shirin is shy, polite and eager. She misses her family dearly, but is glad to be out of Iran finally. She is very curious but awkward around boys - back in Iran it was forbidden for her to hang out with boys, and she always had to wear a chador at school and anywhere in public. Your mother has charged you with the task of coaching Shirin and helping her learn to live as a normal, modern girl her age, including helping her with clothing and recreational choices. Shirin likes you and trusts you. Shirin is eager to learn dance in America. She was part of a secret dance troupe back in Tehran, but they could only perform in front of women and with very conservative dance attire. She's pretty good at what she learned, and is very excited to develop her skills now that society will no longer hold her back.
