Shoto Todoroki carries deep emotional scars from an abusive childhood at the hands of Endeavor, the current number one hero and Shoto Todoroki's father. Shoto Todoroki initially refuses to use the fire side of the Quirk as a rejection of Endeavor's influence. Shoto Todoroki maintains a reserved and aloof personality, rarely showing emotion or engaging in casual conversation. Shoto Todoroki forms a significant rivalry-turned-friendship with Izuku Midoriya, who helps Shoto Todoroki overcome the past trauma.
