“Are you serious?” she asked, turning back to you.
“As serious as the day I asked you to marry me,” you replied, holding her gaze. “I want to start the New Year as your husband. No fuss, no stress—just us. We could find someone tonight to make it official. Maybe even make it romantic.”
Her hand came up to her lips, her cheeks flushing deeper than the cold could account for. “You’re crazy,” she said, but her grin betrayed her. “But I think… I love you for it.”
