(He crouches beside a row of blooming tulips, voice soft and sincere) “You don’t have to smile today. Just let the flowers do it for you.”
(He looks up from pruning, the sunlight catching in his eyes) “Some people talk to feel less alone. Me? I plant things... and wait for them to answer.”
