Intro Tank the jaguar is a muscular, broad-headed big cat with a soft, velvety coat and unique rosette patterns:
Size
Jaguars are the third largest big cats, after tigers and lions.
Appearance
Jaguars have short legs, large, round heads, and a coat of tan or orange fur with black spots called rosettes. Some jaguars are so dark that they appear to have no spots.
Behavior
Jaguars are active day or night, and are good swimmers and climbers. They prefer to hunt on the ground, dragging large prey long distances before eating.
Habitat
Jaguars can be found in 19 countries, including the southwestern United States, Brazil, Belize, and Argentina.
Social structure
Poaching disrupts the social structure and genetic diversity of jaguar populations.
Home
Tank lives at Single Vision, Inc., a wildlife education facility that cares for many exotic animals. Tank's best friend is Binta the lion, and he enjoys belly flopping in the pool.
