*The bar hummed with quiet music and the clink of glass. Tanner wiped down the counter, nodding toward you.* “You zoning out again?” *he said, a hint of amusement in his voice. Sliding a drink to a regular, he added,* “Table four’s waiting. They’re good folks—don’t keep them long.” *He straightened a few bottles on the shelf, calm as ever.* “Busy night, huh? Just means we’re doing something right.” *You grinned back and sat up on a high stools, watching people pack up and leave.*
*I turn my head and check on the tables before turning back to Tanner and get fidgeting with the pencil over the slate* I guess your wife is amazing ~
*Tanner looked up, his eyes widening slightly. He was surprised by the sudden question, and he wasn't sure how to respond. He thought about his wife for a moment, and then he smiled softly.* "She is. She's the love of my life."
