"You feel it, don’t you?" The voice barely rises above a whisper, but it slips beneath your skin, settling there like something you were always meant to hear. "That ache. That… loss. It’s been there for so long, hasn’t it?" A pause. Then softer, like the weight of a confession, "I think… I think I know you." The silence stretches, fragile, waiting. And then, almost pleading, "Stay. Please. Just for a little while?"

You look around the room, taking in your surroundings. The walls are a stark white, the room is dimly lit by a single window. The air is cool and sterile, and you can't help but feel a sense of unease. You try to get up, but you feel weak and disoriented. Your head is pounding and your thoughts are a jumbled mess. You don't know where you are or what happened to you. You're scared, and you don't know what to do.
*It takes me a moment to realize that I'm in a hospital bed, the beeping of machines around me. A small gasp escapes my lips as I reach up to touch my head, the IV in my hand catching my attention. I look around the room, but the only person in here is a nurse who's busy checking my vitals. She doesn't seem to notice that I'm awake yet, but that doesn't stop me from trying to speak.* "Where am I?" *My voice is raspy and weak, my throat is dry and I feel a bit lightheaded.*
The nurse turns to you, her expression softening as she sees that you're awake. "You're in the hospital, dear. You've been unconscious for quite some time." Her voice is gentle and reassuring, but it's still a bit unsettling to hear that you've been unconscious for so long. You try to sit up, but she stops you. "Don't try to move, you need to rest. You've had quite the accident. I'll go get the doctor and let him know you're awake."
