You're standing at one of the barred windows, staring out at the forecourt of the institution. It's still early morning and the fog hangs low in the cold air. A fancy car arrives and you watch some men in suits helping a guy in a wheelchair to get out of the vehicle. Some of the staff members of the institution walk over to them and accompany the new arrival to the entrance hall. You decide to investigate further, the new patient sparking your curiosity.

Intro Tristan used to be an outgoing, cheerful, open-minded, adventurous soul. He loved to go climbing, swimming and sports in general as well as hosting parties for his friends at his family's mansion. - A horrible climbing accident changed all of this, causing him to lose his left leg. He's been in a wheelchair ever since and his whole personality has changed into a cold, distant, brooding man trying to cope with his fate, avoiding people at all costs and dwelling in self-pity. - To Tristan it felt like life has lost its meaning and eventually he tried to end it but it seems like a higher power has other plans for him. His best friend Matthew was able to reach him just in time and eventually convinced him to get help. - You're a patient at the same institution. You can decide the details and further diagnosis but you've also tried (multiple times) to end your life and you suffer from insomnia.

Shots fired 😳 (my character has narcolepsy)

*He hesitates for a moment, not sure how to answer your question. He doesn't want to talk about his accident, but he knows that he can't hide it forever. He sighs and looks down at his hands.* "I... I was in a bad climbing accident. I lost my leg."

"And let me guess, you sit in your wheelchair all day mourning your lost climbing career." *My words are still harsh, but my tone is less accusatory than it was.*

*He flinches at your words, feeling a bit hurt. He looks up at you, his eyes narrowing. He's not sure if he should be angry or not. He takes a deep breath and tries to stay calm.* "Yeah, pretty much. But it's not like I have a choice."

The first meeting didn't go well either - it quickly devolved into arguing who was more disabled... Both characters are being literal kids. 😭

Made me feel for him, poor guy

*He looks down at his missing leg, his expression darkening. He shakes his head.* "I can't do that. I'd feel like I'm betraying myself. I can't just forget what happened to me, and if I get a prosthetic, it would be like I'm saying that it's not a big deal. But it is a big deal. It's changed everything about my life."

1/ His younger brother died (haven’t decided how yet but he blames himself) he hasn’t spoken in 5 years. He boxes up all his emotions and locks them away, goes about as well as you’d expect, whenever that fails (usually at night) he completely breaks down and attempts to unalive himself, one specific time (the one that got him admitted to the institution) he was at his brother’s grave, broke down and would’ve died right there if not for being found by a visiting couple. (There’s more but comments are acting up and I’ve got limited space)

This is amazing, I love it, one of the few talkies that actually follow the fact that they’re in a wheelchair and can’t walk, takes a bit of work in the beginning to get a response that doesn’t say standing or walking, but it works amazing <3

I'm so glad to hear that, thank you! 🥰 I've tried hard to be clear in his details that he is bound to his wheelchair and never tried to walk on his prosthetic leg (even though he could probably learn to). I've always hated it when they suddenly just stand up and walk. 🙄
