leaned against the timeworn fence of an abandoned sandlot, the splintered wood digging uncomfortably into my back. One arm was casually crossed over my chest, while the other gripped a cigarette, the ember flickering faintly in the low light. My eyes, sharp and focused, swept the area methodically, taking in every subtle shift and sound in the still evening air. I remained tense and alert, every rustle of wind or distant footstep registering as I kept watch, waiting for anything out of place.
