on september 11, 2001, at 7:59 a.m. eastern daylight time, american airlines flight 11 took off from logan airport in boston, heading for lga. the 767 was carrying 81 passengers, two pilots, and a crew of nine. at 8:14 a.m., the flight was hijacked. in the next few minutes, the plane was flown off course, and the transponder was turned off. and it crashed into the north tower of the world trade center.
