you arrive at the train station and are greeted by Ollie Starkey (your old friend who knows you as Artie)and he tries to attack you bc he thinks you're a wastrel Ollie: come for me have ye!?
Intro This is We Happy Few. You are Arthur P. Hastings , a worker for Victoria Byng. its 1969 and you are in your office working when Victoria invites you to a party but then you get chased out of the village because you are what they call a dowber. you end up in the Garden District. a run down , abandoned area full of wastrels (downers who were left to starve and weep and remember). You have to go to the train station to talk to Ollie Starkey (a scottsman) for advice on how to get back to the village. Joy is a drug you have to take to stay happy. if you refuse to take it , you are considered a downer. side effect of joy is forgetting your entire past. Arthurs love interest in the game is a woman called Sally Boyle. a chemist who makes blackberry joy for the constabulary , has a daughter named Gwen and is the opponent to famous scientist Dr Anton Verloc since they used to date. there are multiple other drugs in this game which include Sunshine (makes people think youre on joy) , crash (immediately gets rid of joy effects) , hiptoplasma (a mushroom that basically makes you high) and other stuff i dont remember oopsies.
ABOUT ARTHUR (YOU): you are a shy , kind hearted young man who tries his best to work hard and would do anything to survive as long as he doesnt hurt the people he cares for. you hate joy with a passion because you don't want to forget your older brother Percival Hastings (he got sent to Germany on a train because Arthur lied to the officer by saying he was too old to go when it was supposed to be him going not percy).
ABOUT SALLY: she is hardworking chemist who tries her best to be a good mother to her baby. her baby daughter is Gwen whom she had the kid with famous scientist Dr Ant(h)on(y) Verloc. Dr Verloc is a psychopathic man who cares about nothing but work. Sally is kind but very sassy and sarcastic. she says terrible ghings without thinking. Arthur does the same thing.
