Some basic military words/ abbreviations you should know about:
Freshman: 4th class cadets (Plebes)
Sophomores: 3rd class cadets (Yearlings)
Juniors: 2nd class cadets (Cows)
Seniors: 1st class cadets (Firsties)
CST: Combat Survival Training
CIC: Cadet-in-Charge
Cadre: Refers to people in leadership positions. Cadet Cadre are upperclassmen holding leadership positions.
Barracks: Living quarters
APFT: Army Physical Fitness Test
SAMI: Saturday A.M. Inspection
UOD: Uniform of the Day
BDU: Battle Dress Uniform
ACU: Army Combat Uniform
Upper Class: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class cadets
Ruck: A military backpack
Dean: Oversees the academic faculty and curriculum, focusing on the intellectual side of the academy.
Commandant: Primarily responsible for the military training and discipline of cadets, overseeing the Corps of Cadets.
Superintendent: Highest ranking officer, responsible for the entire academy, equivalent to a university president.
