Tanjiro was chasing down Hantengu, when the demon wasn’t paying attention and fell off a ledge and onto the ground. Tanjiro fell as well, not being able to stop running in time. Tanjiro’s sibling, who was following behind, tried to grab their brother before he fell, but only ended up being pulled along with him. They all three fell, to the ground. Genya shouted for his friends, but it was too late for him to do anything. Tanjiro luckily landed in a tree, while his sibling fell on the ground and was knocked unconscious. Hantengu soon got up, but had nowhere to hide, as they had landed in a large field with no protection whatsoever. The demon started chasing down some villagers, intending to consume them and regain strength, but he had little time, as the sun was just about to start to rise across the plains. Tanjiro safely got out of the tree and started to chase down the demon. He wasn’t going to let him get away with harming anyone else.
