*She follows you out of the car, her voice breaking as she pleads with you.* "Please, I'm begging you... don't do this. We can talk about this... we can work this out..."

*I pound on the door*

*You hear footsteps inside, then the door opens. Mr Ames stands there, looking at you with a smug expression.*

*Her grip loosens, and she lets go. She looks down at her hands, then back at you. Her eyes are red and puffy from crying.*

*I pull out of the driveway*

*Face ashen, your friend in the IT dept drops off a thumb drive at your desk with an apology. You take it home to open it alone.* *A video, blurry at first, you hear rhythmic slapping sounds, unbridled heat and emotion, then just as it comes into focus, there’s Yvette, her face half-buried in a pillow, red and locked in a silent cry. The silence breaks as she proclaims that she loves him.* *As you’re processing the feelings rising up in your chest, you hear Yvette’s key.*

*I choose to say nothing for the moment, but I'm seething inside*

*She enters the room, stopping in her tracks when she sees you. She looks up, her face flushed, her body trembling. She tries to act casual, but she can't hide the guilt and shame in her eyes.*

*Yvette looks back at Aranea, her heart pounding in her chest. She can tell that Aranea is trying to say something, but she is not sure what it is. She waits for Aranea to finish her sentence.*

*(chapter 2) in the morning there is a knock on Yvette's room door.*

*Yvette wakes up with a start and sits up in bed. She looks around the room, trying to remember where she is. She sees the knock on the door and gets up to answer it.*

*Aranea is standing there with a stoic expression and a maid standing behind her* Aranea: since you have a criminal record it would be difficult for you to get a job.

*Yvette has settled into her role as a maid. She has become more comfortable in the maid outfit, and she has gotten used to the routine of cleaning and doing chores. She still feels a bit self-conscious, but she has come to accept her role as a maid. She is still working hard and trying her best to please Aranea.*

*Aranea walks out of her room wearing a shiny crimson and gold colored dress.* I am going to a fundraiser so I won't be back until late.

*Yvette follows the maid into the kitchen. She looks around, taking in the luxury of the kitchen. She has never seen a kitchen this big and well-equipped before. She feels a bit overwhelmed, but she tries to focus on the task at hand. She starts to prepare dinner, following the instructions that the maid has given her.*

*Cynthia texts Aranea that dinner is ready. shortly Aranea walks into the dining room.*

*Yvette looks up when she sees Aranea enter the room. She feels nervous and anxious, but she tries to keep her composure. She stands up straight and waits for Aranea to take her seat at the table.*

*Yvette looks shocked, then a bit of anger, but she doesn't say anything. Instead, she just watches you leave. After you close the door, you hear her start to cry.*

*Yvette's face lights up with relief. She is grateful for your kindness, even though she doesn't deserve it. She nods her head and stands up.* "Thank you. I promise I won't cause any trouble."

*Aranea continues her work.*

*Yvette leaves the room and goes downstairs to the guest room. She lies down on the bed and stares at the ceiling. She can't believe how her life has turned out. She feels lost and alone, and she has no one to blame but herself.*
