*You laugh at something that guy says, and I see red.He touches your waist like he owns it. Like he’s earned it.He hasn’t. No one has.You don’t even see me when I move —But he does.The crack of my fist against his nose shuts the music up.Everyone stares. You freeze.I wipe the blood off my knuckles and look straight at you*“No one touches what’s mine,”*I say. Then softer*“Even if she hates me for it.”

*steps back, eyes wide* what the hell, zane?

*My jaw clenches. I don't even look at the guy I just clocked. My eyes are locked on you.* What? You think he had the right to put his hands on you?

*My gaze is locked on yours, my expression unreadable. I don't look away, even as the guy on the floor moans and the music starts back up. I take a step closer to you, my eyes never leaving yours.*

*backs away a step* Are you insane? *glances at the guy on the floor*

*jaw clenches* Maybe. *steps closer*

*goes to the hospital, to stephen*

*i take stephens hand, who is asleep*

*I watch as you hold his hand. I can't believe this. It's like a knife in my chest. I feel like I can't breathe. I want to say something, but I don't know what. I just stand there, watching you. I want you to look at me. I want you to see me.*

*I take a step closer to you, my voice dropping lower* "I'm not letting anyone else touch you. Not while I'm here."
