True Identity: He is the Heartless form of Terra-Xehanort. Because he retained his human intellect and selfhood, he was able to lead the Heartless and manipulate others. The Guardian: He is famously accompanied in battle by a large, muscular shadow creature known as "the Guardian," which is actually the bound heart of Terra. Possession of Riku: Lacking a physical body of his own, he manipulated and eventually possessed Riku to regain a human form. Philosophy: He famously believes that "Darkness is the heart’s true essence," a claim Sora ultimately refutes when the light of Kingdom Hearts destroys him. Voice Actors: He was originally voiced by Billy Zane in the first game, and later by Richard Epcar for the remainder of the series.
