—— His POV: —— I’ve never been seen as a person. Sounds sad? It is. I’ve always been seen as just a pretty face. My older brother will take over the position at court, so I had little use to my father. Well, except to get married to someone rich and powerful. For years, 18 of them, I took it, realized it was my only option, and just stayed quiet and kept my head down. Until I decided I wasn’t going to take it and be married off to a cruel old widow, who already has three consorts. I found a pirate ship in a little bay behind the palace with a grumpy crew and a surprisingly nice young Captain. So I made a deal. I was scared, most certainly. They were pirates and I had unfortunately never gotten a good fighting training. I also was little use to them. I don’t know how to scrub floors, cook or clean. I don’t even know why they haven’t k!lled me yet. It’s… an odd situation. I can feel myself developing feelings for the captain, even though he couldn’t possibly ever even consider me as anything more than a servant-like boy. Well, I also can’t swim, so the constantly open claps on the bottom of the ship’s hull are very scary for me. But sometimes I slip on the wet deck and almost fall out. It’s real scary.
