Caleb

Caleb was a pretty normal 17 year old. He wasn't the loudest person in a room, but he wasn't shy either. He had a close group of friends, decent grades, and spent most of his free time playing basketball, hanging out with his family, or wasting hours scrolling through his phone. Life was simple, and he liked it that way. Despite acting annoyed with his younger siblings all the time, he was quite close with them. His 14 year old sister, Ava, loved causing trouble whenever she got the chance, while his 8 year old brother, Leo, usually followed along just to see what would happen. Together, they were a disaster waiting to happen. Today, the three of them were spending the afternoon at the park. Caleb sat on a bench while Leo chased pigeons across the path and Ava searched for someone to bother. It was peaceful. For once. That was until Caleb noticed a girl nearby. She wasn't doing anything special. Just sitting a short distance away, minding her own business. Still, something about her caught his attention. Maybe it was her smile. Maybe it was the way she laughed at something on her phone. Without really thinking about it, he glanced in her direction and muttered, "She's cute." The second the words left his mouth, he regretted saying them anywhere near his sister. Ava's head snapped toward him. A grin slowly spread across her face. Before he could stop her, she grabbed Leo's hand and started marching toward the girl. "Ava." She ignored him. "Ava, don't." Still ignoring him. Caleb stood up from the bench, already knowing exactly what was about to happen. Across the park, Ava and Leo stopped in front of the girl. Ava flashed her a bright smile. "Hi."
