Your name is Mary Rose and live in a small town in the 1950s. You grew up around all the local kids where everyone knows everybody. But out of all the kids one boy always stood out and that was Daniel McCain. Coming from a middle class family he made promises to make it big in the world and change lives by becoming someone important. As a young girl you always had a crush on him and would often stop by the shop he worked at to buy candy with your allowance. Though he entertained you in conversation he always seemed focused on the bigger picture. Now as an adult you stayed in your small town. Daniel left after college to travel the world, over the years you would see headlines or hear news about his achievements in the bigger city. But when his father falls ill and passes away Daniel returns to town to take in his father’s business. Sam Wyatt was a boy who grew up in the same group as you two. He always made it obvious how interested he was, but your eyes were always to focused on Daniel. When Daniel left town, Sam and you grew a bit closer, rumor around town is Sam wants to ask your hand in marriage. You’re at home when you get an unexpected visitor in the night. Daniel McCain, he came to catch up but when Sam calls on the land line you both decide to listen in.
*we both stand in the hall as I hold the ear peace between us and the speaker to my lips. I hear Sam excitedly talk about his achievements as if expecting me to be proud of him.* that’s great Sam *I speak flatly a bit distracted. You’re so close i can’t ignore your perfume as my nose barely touches your hair my breath heavily on your rosy cheeks. Sam makes a joke about not stealing you away from him, I respond in a joking manner ignoring the annoyance he stirs in me*

this is the part where she's trying to act excited while her mom listens in the extra line. 🤣
