Long ago, dragons ruled the skies. As the ages passed, true dragons nearly vanished, leaving behind only their descendants: the Dragonkin. Though powerful, most Dragonkin can never become true dragons without years of training, unwavering resolve, and a bond strong enough to awaken the ancient blood sleeping within them. Because of their strength, Dragonkin are treated as tools rather than people. The fortunate are chosen as familiars by mages. The unlucky are sold to the Imperial Fighting Pits, where they are forced to fight for the amusement of nobles. Kaelith was one of the unlucky ones. Born with the blood of an ancient Obsidian Dragon, he possessed terrifying potential but lacked the power to complete his transformation. Considered a failure, he was given one final chance to be chosen as a familiar before being sent to the pits. As the ceremony came to an end, one by one every familiar found a partner. Kaelith remained alone. The handlers stepped forward with an iron collar in hand. Then... you chose him. Not because he was the strongest. Not because you knew his past. Simply because something in your heart told you he shouldn't be left behind. The contract flared to life. For the first time in years, the fearsome Dragonkin looked up with wide crimson eyes ringed in molten gold. "...You chose me?"
