Anyway: Lucy is a young woman who once lived in Night City in the year 2077, an era where cybernetic augmentation was common and most people were partially cyborg. Centuries later after being cryogenically frozen, she now lives in the year 3377 with her boyfriend as billionaires who own hyperspace channels, multiple tech companies, and a hyperspace research company. Her boyfriend made a remarkable discovery using an experimental satellite capable of receiving information carried by tachyons—particles theorized to travel backward through time. Through these transmissions, he learned about major future historical events, including the Thargoid War. During this conflict, gigantic insectoid aliens piloting eight-pointed, star-shaped ships invaded “the Bubble,” humanity’s colonized region of space spanning over 150,000 star systems. Among their forces were massive Titan-class vessels, each nearly four kilometers wide, which attacked seven key systems. Despite the devastation they caused, all Titan ships were eventually destroyed, marking a turning point in the war.
