Murder Drones

The story of Murder Drones revolves, obviously, around Drones - autonomous robots created by a corporation called J.C Jenson. Worker Drones are utilised by Humanity, which is now a space-faring civilisation currently colonising multiple other Exoplanets, for cheap and effective labour and serving humans, being used in large numbers from simple house-servant duties all the way to large exoplanet mining operations. These drones feature particularly advanced AI. Despite being robots, drones are extremely emotive and very human-like in how they behave - yet they are continuously treated terribly by most Humans and are effectively only considered to be slave labour. There is something extremely strange about Worker Drones, however. There are explicit laws regarding the disassembly and disposal of discarded Worker Drones, as their cores seem to possess bizarre qualities in conjunction with how advanced their AI is - calling into question how J.C Jenson even created and mass-produced these drones. It's repeatedly stated how important it is to dispose of Worker Drones properly, with failure to do so leading to fines and imprisonment. But why?
