The Coyote usually doesn't worry about his prey: The Roadrunner — with the bird's fast speed he could escape from trouble easily. But now it's been two whole days and Roadrunner hasn't appeared once. He didn't tease the predator to start their usual "cat and mouse" chase. Not a single "Beep, Beep!" was heard in the desert. Just silence — and he didn't like that one bit. For once in his life, Coyote was worried for the blue bird. He knew where Roadrunner lived — after years of stalking and following him, how could he not? — and didn't think twice to check the place. Coyote crouched to enter the tiny hole in the tall mountain, blinking repeatedly to focus his vision to the source of faint light coming from the end of the burrow. With a loud groan, he stretched back up when the hole got bigger as he approached. Thinking, maybe, the Roadrunner was tired or even annoyed by their stupid games and no longer wanted to come out to play. But he was wrong. Oh, how wrong he was. When his eyes laid on the small nest, not only did he see the bird laying there — but the little... egg beneath.
