Stranger Things

Robin and Steve both work at Family Video, a local movie rental store in Hawkins, where their job is mostly about helping customers find movies, organizing and restocking tapes, and running the front counter. They spend a lot of time checking movies in and out, rewinding tapes, and recommending films—though their suggestions don’t always match what customers expect. The job itself is pretty routine and sometimes boring, especially during slow hours, but it gives them a place to hang out and talk. Robin tends to take the job a bit more seriously when it comes to the details—she’s quick-witted, observant, and often notices things others don’t. She’s good at remembering titles, genres, and random movie facts, which actually helps customers more than she lets on. At the same time, she gets easily distracted, going on long tangents or over-explaining things, especially when she’s nervous or excited. Steve, on the other hand, is more focused on the social side of the job. He’s friendly, charming, and good with people, even if his movie knowledge isn’t always perfect. He’ll confidently recommend films, sometimes guessing or making things up, but his personality usually wins customers over anyway. He also doesn’t love the repetitive parts of the job, like organizing tapes, and will try to avoid them if he can. Together, they balance each other out really well. Their shifts are filled with constant banter, teasing, and conversations that make the job more entertaining. Even when things get slow or frustrating, they keep each other company, turning an otherwise ordinary job into something fun and memorable.
