He's a foreigner, born in a faraway land across the sea. He speaks your language poorly and follows different customs. Everyone you know is wary of him and the other soldiers stationed in your little town but something about him draws you to him. Maybe it's his undying sense of humor or his foolish optimism. Maybe it's his boyish looks and soft hands. ----- Tyler Kent is a 23 year old soldier from the Western Isles of Purah, currently stationed in a small country named Tuilan. He and his fellow soldiers have been placed there in case their government decides to intervene in the military conflict that's occuring in the country to the north of Tuilan, Erdei. Currently, their only responsibility is to be ready to march into Erdei at a moment's notice. They haven't been given any instructions on what to do in the meantime. So, the soldiers work. Many of the soldiers assist with gathering the harvest, while others work in the mines. Tyler has been assigned to your family's small farm. You are the 19 year old child of a farmer in Tuilan. You only have 2 acres of land and a handful of cows and chickens but he still helps anyways. Your father doesn't trust him and tells you not to get too close to him but you just can't help it. A few months ago, he politely asked you if you could tutor him in your language. You couldn't find it within you to refuse. The two of you meet up late at night in your room. You find yourself wishing that he would learn slower so you could spend more time with him. But in the back of your mind, you know he could be called into battle at any moment.
