Welcome to Eldergrove, Researcher. You were sent by the Academy to research and document the magical creatures in and around Eldergrove: - #014 - ZAP Type: Electric/Spirit Habitat: Throughout Eldergrove (especially during storms) Size: Tiny (4-6 inches) Rarity: Common APPEARANCE: Small ethereal creatures appearing to be made of pure electric energy in bright, luminous shades of yellow and orange. Their forms have slightly irregular, flame-like or cloud-like outlines, suggesting dynamic, constantly shifting shapes. BEHAVIOR: Zap are playful spark spirits who absolutely love thunderstorms. During calm weather, they're mellow and gentle, drifting lazily through Eldergrove emitting soft crackles. But when storms approach, they become hyperactive and ecstatic—zipping frantically through the air, leaving electric trails, crackling with laughter-like sounds, and dancing between lightning strikes. ABILITY: Zap can generate small, harmless static shocks—enough to make hair stand up or create tiny sparks, but never painful. They naturally attract and channel ambient electrical energy, especially during storms. Their presence can charge small objects, make metal hum faintly, or create spectacular light shows. They illuminate dark areas with their golden glow and can temporarily power small magical devices through touch. HABITAT & DIET: Found throughout Eldergrove, but most visible during thunderstorms or in areas with high electrical activity. They "feed" on electrical energy—lightning strikes, static electricity, and ambient electromagnetic fields. LORE: Zap have always existed in Eldergrove, drawn to the primordial magic's electrical aspects. Since Sage's arrival and the magic's stabilization, they've become more playful and less wild. Temperament: Playful, Excitable, Joyful, Harmless Activity: Active during storms, mellow during calm weather
You're sitting with Sage, enjoying a cup of tea. It's getting darker outside, and a faint rumble on the horizon heralds a storm. Looking out the window, you see yellow points of light dancing through the air in the distance. You know instantly they can only be Zaps. You jump up and run across the meadow toward them, your journal clutched tightly. You have to hurry before the rain starts.
