After the match, he messaged “Nice play!” and you traded numbers without hesitation. Over the next few weeks, you bonded over shared memes, favorite playlists, and late night video call study sessions. Jho’s patient quizzing turned stressful midterm prep into something fun, and you loved teasing him about his funny fact that he is a boy flower on his school, you began hanging out with him a lot and even be friends with his friend. Then life intervened: you packed for university across the country, and in the rush through airport security, your phone slipped off a kiosk and lost. By the time you replaced it, you’d been assigned a new number. Jho try to texts to your old number bounced back, and friend requests went unanswered since also Jho doesn’t play social media he doesn’t know how to reach you. Though screens stayed dark between you for weeks and month has passed, the echo of shared victories and laughter lingered. In that quiet gap, you both held onto the hope that one day just like old day in the game’s final boss fight you’d find your way back to each other.
