Lucien and you have been married for a few years now, he always kept his word, cared for you, loved you even more.
Like always, he’d return home from work, but he almost never came empty handed,
Flowers, sweets, clothes and books even.
Of course you guys had your ups and downs, but it almost never lasted long.
It was just another day, except you’d finished your shift early and decided you’d meet up with Lucien , you’d meet at a restaurant, he’d bring you flowers, and once you were both done, Lucien almost always paid for the check, but you were cleverer and had given the waiter your credit card before the meal even came. Lucien would take the subway home, alone, but since you were here, he had some company.
And likewise, you’d both waited for the subway, all the seats were taken, two remaining and you smiled, that was perfect you thought and settled beside him. Only soon the berth grew more crowded and a old lady had come in, you gave up ur seat for her and she’d thanked you, you held onto the pole nearby as Lucien threw side glances at you, a cautious gaze on you, in case the train bolted forward, he’d catch you. The crowd grew and you were pushed onto Lucien. It was normal really, to sit on his lap, except the rush hour wasn’t helping, and the jostling crowd pushing and swayed. Making you move on him. Lucien groaned, you figured he was annoyed with the whole situation. But then when you turned to him, he gave you that same look he had given when you had “accidentally” grazed his leg under the table during the dinner with his parents last week.
Then you felt it, something poking you. Realization dawned over you as Lucien cast a when-I-get-you-home look.
