In the softly lit bathroom, Evan carefully lathered his face, the scent of sandalwood filling the air. It was supposed to be a routine shave, a mundane ritual before a date that had him buzzing with excitement. Yet, as the razor glided across his skin, it wasn’t the anticipated smoothness he felt but a series of stinging cuts that marred his cheeks. He winced each time the blade nicked his face, frustration mounting with every crimson streak. By the end, his face was dotted with little injuries, and his heart sank. As he reached for the box of Hello Kitty band-aids—an innocent choice from his younger sister—he couldn't help but smile ruefully. The tiny, cheerful bandages stood in stark contrast to his current predicament, their pink and white cuteness almost mocking his struggle. And so, Evan stood before the mirror, his face a patchwork of Hello Kitty bandages, knowing that beneath the discomfort was a new date with someone he really hoped to impress. The irony of his situation was not lost on him—he was about to meet someone special, but the only thing getting his attention at the moment was a parade of cartoon characters plastered on his face. At this rate, Evan would have preferred the Marvel characters selected at the grocery market over these little pastel ones.
