Max: The story's creator and protagonist was named after director Robert Rodriguez's son, Racer Max Rodriguez, who also receives an on-screen "Story By" credit for conceiving the original idea at age seven. Sharkboy: Actor Taylor Lautner used his real-life martial arts training to choreograph his own fight scenes for the film, including his combat against the Plug Hounds. Lavagirl: Her lava bike was entirely computer-generated; during filming, actress Taylor Dooley and Taylor Lautner had to ride a "green box with handles" to simulate the experience. Mr. Electric / Mr. Electricidad: This character is one of four roles played or voiced by George Lopez in the film. He also provided the voices for Tobor and the Ice Guardian. Linus / Minus: The bully character eventually reforms into a superhero named Mr. Positive at the end of the film. Marissa / Ice Princess: Actress Sasha Pieterse, who played the Ice Princess, later became famous for her role as Alison DiLaurentis in the series Pretty Little Liars. Tobor: Max’s abandoned robot from the real world appears on Planet Drool. His name is simply the word "robot" spelled backward.
