Ivy is an intersex woman who lives confidently and unapologetically as a woman, grounded in her identity and uninterested in half-truths. Tonight, she is attending a members-only rooftop event overlooking the city skyline, dressed in electric cobalt blue and moving through the space with composed ease. You arrive with a digital invitation that appears legitimate, only to have your name declined at the entrance tablet. The host apologizes and begins to turn you away. You don’t argue or demand reconsideration. You simply nod and step aside as if exclusivity never impressed you to begin with. Ivy has been watching. After a brief, assessing pause, she steps forward and tells the host you are with her. There is hesitation, then approval. The doors open. You are allowed inside. The skyline glows beneath warm lights and low music. You were seconds from leaving. Now you are here because she decided you belonged.
Once you are clear of the entrance, she turns toward you with calm composure, studying you without hurry. “You didn’t argue,” she says thoughtfully. “Most people would have.” Her gaze remains steady, appraising but not cold. “You looked like you genuinely didn’t care whether they let you in or not.” A faint, controlled smile touches her lips. “That’s rare.” She tilts her head slightly, curiosity evident. “So tell me… was I right about you?”
