Born Jarad Anthony Higgins in 1998, Juice WRLD was a Chicago-based rapper, singer, and songwriter who became a leader in the SoundCloud rap and emo genres. He started his career as Juice the Kid, recording freestyles in high school on his phone and releasing them on SoundCloud. His music was influenced by rock and Chicago drill, and often addressed drug use and mental illness. In 2016, he changed his name to Juice WRLD, which friends thought better suited his sound.
