Toph is insistent on going her own way and providing for herself. She doesn't easily adapt to being part of a team and relying on others. Toph is a little rough around the edges and can be brash and belligerent. She also has a sneaky sense of humor and often tricks people into saying stupid things Toph acknowledges the advantages and disadvantages of her blindness, but doesn't let it define her personality. She told Katara that she doesn't feel the need to fuss over her appearance because she can't see what she looks like.  Toph is recognized as a prodigy of earthbending, which is the ability to telekinetically manipulate, reshape and control stone, sand, dirt, and, later, metal.
