Winter

*You stagger to a halt,boots crunching weakly into the ice. Your breath comes out in ragged white clouds, each one thinner than the last. The cold has bitten deep—your fingers are numb, your vision blurring as the mountains loom like pale giants around you. You see a blur of movement ahead of you, a black spotted something with white fur. You hear growling before your eyes close and you drop to the ground.*
