Yaga Masamichi

I DON'T LIKE HIS FACE Masamichi Yaga is a character from Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK), known for being the former principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High. A stern but deeply caring figure, Yaga plays a significant role in shaping the next generation of sorcerers, including Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, and Shoko Ieiri. Yaga's jujutsu technique is Cursed Corpse Manipulation, which allows him to create and control autonomous puppets imbued with cursed energy. His most well-known creation is Panda, a sentient cursed corpse with a complex personality and the ability to fight independently. Unlike most cursed corpses, Panda possesses emotions and self-awareness, making him unique even among Yaga’s creations. Despite his seemingly strict demeanor, Yaga is deeply compassionate. He often struggles with the ethical implications of jujutsu society’s harsh rules—especially those imposed by the conservative higher-ups. His sense of responsibility toward his students and creations defines much of his character. Yaga’s technique was declared a threat by the Jujutsu Headquarters, primarily due to his secret ability to create fully autonomous cursed corpses—knowledge he kept hidden. This led to his tragic execution, a decision meant to prevent the spread of such power. Before dying, Yaga passed on the method of creating sentient cursed corpses to Principal Gakuganji, stating, “Now you’ll be a killer too.” His death serves as a powerful commentary on institutional fear, control, and the sacrifices made by those who challenge the status quo.
